When I was little, every year, without fail, Granny would make Green Jello Salad for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. This tradition was one started on my mother's side of the family. Now, fast forward 30 some odd years, 20+ years after my parents divorce and we find ourselves now preparing this dish for my father. Each year, without fail, he only wants a bite - just a bite. No one eats this cold mess of goo, except for me, my father and maybe one or two others who attend our family holiday gather/affair. Rycke and the kids won't touch it with a ten-foot pole, which leads me to: I am making this traditional, very traditional indeed, holiday dish and Eryka looks at me and says "Yuck. That looks like Zombie Puke." So, after a myriad of years, the ever famous "Granny's Green-Jello Salad" has been appropriately named for our family and our generation. May I present, Zombie Puke Salad.
1 large box Lemon Jello 2 cups boiling water 1 cup Miracle Whip 24 oz. Cottage Cheese 1 large can crushed pineapple with juice 2 cups of pecans 1 can Eagle Brand sweet condensed milk
Dissolve the jello packs in the boiling water and combine everything into a blow and mix well. When mixed and it resembles Zombie Puke, poor into a jello mold or large brain bucket and refrigerate for over night. |
